With Columbus Day to be held on October 11, two hundred and first, many are curious as to whether or not a recognized holiday.
Columbus Day is really an honor on a state-by-state. In other words, some states in the United States celebrates with a day off from work, where other states simply do not recognize.
For the most part, most jobs related to the government are closed. However, the bags are open on Columbus Day, an indication that the business world does not recognize.
United States is not the only country in the world to celebrate Columbus Day. The festival will honor the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the Americas, including the Bahamas, killing several European countries for notification of it too.
The first state to take Columbus Day as a holiday was Colorado, which it did in 1906. It was not until 1934 that was recognized as a federal holiday.
Through each different country, the festival is honored in many ways. Some areas are not observed at all, while others celebrate with parades and other festivities.
Some debate has arisen as to whether or not the day be celebrated. While some activists believe the discovery of America is important, others believe that Columbus Day is only recognized religious grounds.
Either way, the Columbus Day celebration will take place on Monday, October 11.
